Website almost done

Well, according to my calculations the site is 51% done, but this is only including total pages vs. unfinished pages.  A lot of the site is done if you consider the layout being pretty much finished.

Tonight's update was the Art Gallery, which I had mainly done Thursday but didn't get it finished until tonight.
Tonight I'll spend working on the Projects pages, and maybe the subpages (individual project pages).

Pages that currently still need to be completed:
  • Index (news) page
  • Games page

    • Unicorn Princess
    • Bootleg Bash
    • Lenxion
    • Rawr Rinth
    • Archive page (one page for older projects)
  • Apps page

    • Moose Tiles
    • Moosic Scroller
  • About page
  • Tutorials

    • Sockets
    • MIPS
    • Tiled map editor
  • Source code page

Edit - 2am -
Oh hey, there's a guestbook now! :P

I kind of made it on a whim.  Whee!

Updatin' Moosader.com

Been working on updating my homepage layout today.  Been meaning to for a while, but it's so much more satisfying when you have excessive amounts of time to sit down and work on your projects.
So let's see, I woke up at 11 am and I've been working on my website until about 6 pm, almost completely straight except for food and showering.  And, yes, I had AIM open, and even IRC for a brief stint, but was still productive. :P

So, the new theme is alright looking. It's not amazing, but the code is clean and organized and the page should be decently functional.
I probably ought to look into using a CMS, or trying to write one of my own, but really my main objective at this point is to get stuff up and pretty.

For example, here are my links:

And here is the links page:

For once my page isn't girly pink or purple, it's kind of dull boring RPG-blue and grey colors.  Maybe I'll change the colors later to be more purple toned. ;P

I've gotten a few small pages done, but have some more complex layouts to design.  I want everything to be easily navigable, so it's hard to figure out how to organize my list of projects and such.

Here's the competitions page:

Not the best layout, but I guess it'll do for now.

More on the page updates later.

Artwork

This really isn't high on the priority list of things to get done, but I felt like working on game art tonight.

Jejunum graphics:

A Dog's Life graphics:

OpenArt graphics:

Not really much else going on.  I apparently have a cat, now.  A stray forced herself into my apartment, so I named her Ada (yes, after Ada Lovelace because I'm lame).  Also, apparently she's preggers.  I feel so used. :'(

I think I'll go play some Monkey Island 2 SE now.

OpenArt Update - Requests!

I am mostly done updating the Requests page of OpenArt.  I want to add comments, logging in to edit, as well as email eventually, but for now it's pretty much done and functional.

Now when you go to the Requests page, you'll see a list of projects, as well as date created, owner name, and amount of assets requested.

If you click on one of the project titles, it will take you to the project page:

It will show the project's information, as well as each asset.

You can also create a request for assets:

First you enter the project information, whatever you want the viewer to know, and then enter all the assets you need:

For graphical assets, you're required to enter in dimensions, directions it will face, and actions.

I will update this further in the future, but this is good for now. :)

If you draw art or write music- check it out! Maybe you can help somebody.

If you can't create either but need assets for your game- submit a request!

OpenArt: Request table

You can now submit a request to the OpenArt page and it will show up under the Requests table.

Sooner or later I will update OpenArt to also have a form for uploading contributions, but not right now. :)

Rachel J Morris dot com - Portfolio and Resume

I've been trying to figure out how to reorganize my homepage better lately, but seeing a friend's online portfolio page, I realized it might be worthwhile to make my own.

It is a better place to learn about my projects and capabilities than my actual homepage, which is more focused on showing off my games and providing game development resources.

This page doesn't list all my games, but several main ones, as well as some other projects that are not currently hosted on my homepage (such as, some POSIX multithreading work, MIPS ASM stuff, etc.)

Aside from a couple of websites under the Web Development section, all the projects listed on this page I have done in my free time.

Hopefully it's relatively easy to navigate and gives better insight to potential employers about my abilities.

Seeking employment - Software engineer, web developer, Kansas City area.

As of today I am actively seeking new employement; preferably in the Kansas City area (will commute as far as Lawrence KS, about 50 miles, and for the very off-chance cases, I am willing to move to places I have family: Dallas TX. Seattle, WA. Vancouver, WA. Mobile, AL)

I have an Associates and Bachelors degree, both in Computer Science.  Primarily experienced with C++ and various libraries such as SDL, but have some experience with Java, C#, MIPS ASM, Lua, MySQL, and I've been working with PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS for the past four months for my current employer.

I am also skilled at art and music, though I do not have experience with Photoshop due to it's price (I use GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, Flash 4, and any other Open Source/Free software.)

Decent experience with Linux, good experience with Windows 9x/XP.  Familiar with version control such as SVN and Mercurial.  Briefly acquainted with various design process concepts from school classes.

Highly motivated, inspired and eager to learn new skills, willing to work flexible hours as needed.  Interested in pursuing a masters degree if able.

Earliest possible start date is August 22nd.
